Andur Sunrider - Page 2

Master Chamma found it necessary to instruct Andur in the nature of the Force, for Chamma felt that Andur had ignored that aspect, and although he had studied much about training techniques, concentration methods, and the history of the Jedi he lacked a basic understanding of the power he wished to wield. Andur was a very good student and progressed faster than Master Chamma expected. Within two years, Chamma realized there was little more he could offer Andur in the way of a teacher, and arranged for Andur to travel to the planet Ambria to study under Jedi Master Thon.

Andur at first resisted Chamma's wishes that he take on a new techer, for Andur felt he had learned enough and was ready to join the Jedi Knights. Chamma, however, felt that Andur held within him an obsession to confront the evil that had killed his grandfather. This desire supported Chamma's belief that Andur still need more training. Before Andur left, Chamma took him to a pinnacle that overlooked the H'ratth landscape. As he and his master stood watching the sunset, Andur had a vision. The vision depicted Andur traveling through a great expanse, holding a globe of energy, then being struck by an enemy out of the darkness.

In the vision he felt his life force draining from him. Seeing his wife and daughter, realizing he would leave them behind to face that darkness, Andur gave his dying globe of light to his wife, Nomi, and told her to take it. As she did, the area around them was illuminated, and the darkness was driven back. As the vision ended, Andur recalled the words his grandfather had spoken to him so many years before: that he was not to resist the role the Force wished him to play.

Putting his trust fully in the Force, Andur gathered his family and belongings, and headed for Ambria. Making a stop at a Stenness system space station, Andur and his family was attacked by theives, and Andur was killed in the fight, leaving Nomi and his daughter, Vima behind to face the attackers. Andur's spirit appeared to Nomi and told her to take up his lightsaber to defend herself and their daughter. When the thieves were disposed of, Andur's spirit told Nomi to continue the journey to Ambria, where Jedi Master Thon would show her the new direction her life would take. As Nomi agreed, Andur's spirit faded, and Andur Sunrider, Jedi Knight, became one with the Force.
